Guru Gobind Singh ji only married once. Guru ji was married to Mata Sundari ji, it was when that Guru ji was offered to marry Mata Sahib Kaur ji, at that time, Guru ji said that he has fulfilled his worldly formalities and it was against the belief to marry more then once. At that time Guru ji was ordered that he must marry to Mata Sahib Kaur ji, at that time Guru ji said that I will marry to your wishes but it will be a Kuwara Dola ie; unmarried bride. So when Guru ji was making Amrit and blessing his five Sikh with Khande ki pahul, the Amrit was so powerful that a sparrow tasted it and fought with eagle, injuring the eagle. At that time Mata Sahib Kaur ji saw the whole happening and put Matase (sugar) into Amrit, so that the Khalsa should also be sweat besides having courage. At that time Guru ji said to Mata Sahib Kaur ji that your sewa has been immense and seeing to it, I am making you the mother of Khalsa panth, i.e.; I am putting Khalsa panth tuwadi chooli wich. When we are blessed with Amrit, we believe that our father is Guru Gobind Singh ji and mother Mata Sahib Kaur ji. So I hope it has been made cleared, Guru ji had a very high morale character. He knew it very well that he has been married once, he never touched Mata Sahib Kaur ji in his life but blessed her with Son by making her the mother of Khalsa panth. |
